On our way from Cat Island to Eleuthera, we sailed through a narrow section where everyone says that fish like to migrate, and we spent most of the day feeling discouraged that we weren’t catching anything. FINALLY after a 3 week dry spell, we caught 2 mahi at the same time and successfully reeled them in. The female was much, much stronger than the male, by the way.

We needed to refill our water and the weather was getting stormy, so we got a slip at Davis Harbor Marina which is a very small marina toward the south end of Eleuthera. They charge a daily rate for water and electricity instead of the usual price per gallon, so we cleaned the boat and filled up the tanks and batteries, and I took a long shower on shore. We enjoyed being at a funky little marina with just us, Vista Vida, and local fishing boats. We shared our mahi with our friends on Vista Vida and used the marina wifi to watch a documentary about the young Thai soccer team who were trapped the three cave that flooded. They were all around Jackson’s age (11).
I went for a run with Michele from Vista Vida and we went abut 4 miles! I have missed running and am looking forward to running when I get back to life on land. When I got back to the marina, the boys met me on the road without shoes, because both pairs of their shoes had blown off the dock into the water and floated away. Tommy and I got down the dinghy and our spotlight and searched all the docks, and all we found were one shoe from each pair.

Vista Vida shared some conch with us that they got from the fisherman docked next to their boat, so we made a beautiful conch salad. It was Easter Sunday and I had been looking for anything to give the boys for Easter, but with no luck. Also, our last dozen eggs grew a bunch of mold and the whites turned cloudy, so no eggs for us either. Michele baked some delicious brownies, so we gave those to the boys for Easter and they were totally sweet and happy about it.
