Black Point Settlement

A quick stopover to do laundry turned into a lovely experience. This is a favorite place for cruisers to do their laundry because the laundry mat has a dinghy dock and you can just pull right up to it. When we arrived they were out of tokens and the person in charge of tokens was nowhere to be found. We decided to walk through the little settlement while we waited for someone to show up with tokens. Black Point is an authentic Bahamian community which was nice to see, and get a little glimpse of their lives. Kiddos in their uniforms playing at recess, people weaving straw mats on their front porches, and commuting by boat to their jobs on Staniel Cay.

As usual, Morris was a huge hit with the locals and the boys were troopers, walking with us all over the island. We had a delicious lunch at a funky local place overlooking the water. We met up with some other kid boat families while we finished laundry, then wrapped up our time there in less than a day.

We found an ancient phone booth
