Moving on

There was no reason that we could see to stay at Highborne once the winds settled down, so we took off with SV Grace to Shroud Cay where there is a really nice anchorage and less emotional baggage for us. 😅 We had to go head-on into some aggressive waves and it was a slog, but I didn’t care. Leaving Highborne Cay was great with me.

We grabbed a mooring ball in a picturesque bay, well protected from the easterly winds. The beach nearby is what qualifies on Spencer’s rating scale as “an ideal beach”: soft sand, decent waves, good water temp, land for Morris, and plenty of privacy. There were some people there over the next couple of days who were on a mega-yacht, and they were happy to share the beach with us. They loved Morris and were the nicest zillionaires you could imagine.

Shroud Cay also has a bunch of waterways through the mangroves which are fun to explore when there aren’t giant winds, which were still going full force. We braved the winds and waves in our dinghys to go check out a fun area called “the rapids” on the east ocean side. The water was so rough and currents so strong that we weren’t able to try riding the rapids, even with life jackets on. But it was fun to get out and explore again.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we baked chocolate chip cookies and shared them with SV Grace.

Your photos are so beautiful. The ocean colors are so breathtaking. Morris looks content and happy. I love the boy’s hats. 😁
