This was a very special part of our journey over pristine, shallow waters. The photos attached are unedited. The colors are mind-blowing. We anchored over night and it felt like another planet.
On the way, Jackson and I made conch ceviche and created a horn from a conch shell. We both decided that we do not want to take a conch from their shell and kill them again. It was really hard emotionally and physically. The boys are really good about using every part of the animal when possible, and he saved the rest of the conch “guts” to use as bait later on.
We did catch a small-ish mahi mahi in the deep water as we were getting closer to Chub, but we threw it back because we thought it might not meet the minimum size for keeping. Turns out, there are no size requirements, but we didn’t know at the time.
